At times, the user may perform a number of additions or modifications to a file layout. Although the user may wish to make further changes, they also want to make sure that the amendments already carried out are retained. This can be done by going to the bottom of the screen, filing the item, re-entering the record key and moving to the desired field. This does work but is cumbersome and time consuming. Because of this, PARADYME has provided a function namely ' F S'. On typing this sequence, the system will save the current entry to disk and then allow the user to continue modifying the item. NOTE that the ' F S' function is NOT permitted in the key entry field.

If the user uses this option correctly, the system will print 'Saved to disk' on the error message line, (bottom line of the screen), to confirm that the save has been done. If the user EXITS out of the screen, the system will retain the last version SAVED to disk.
