There may be times where attributes on the file definition become redundant and are no longer required. If the user wishes to get rid of 1 line they could use the CLEAR function. However, where a number of contiguous definitions need DELETING, the user can enter 'D=' followed by the number of definitions to be deleted. If no value is present, 1 line is deleted.

The system will delete as many lines as specified, starting with the line on which the cursor currently sits. If, for instance, the cursor sat on ATT 2 and the user typed 'D=3', then ATT 2, 3 and 4 would be deleted.

Note that the subsequent definitions 'shuffle' up to occupy the vacant slots. Therefore, in the above example, ATT 5 would become ATT 2 after the deletion and so on.
