The set of fields Attribute Name, Conv, L/R, Len, S/M and Comments are a window. A window is a set of attributes that are associated together. These attributes can contain 1 or more values. Each line of the window represents a linked set of values which are maintained together. In this case, the associated fields describe the profile of each attribute in the file being defined.

The eight lines available on the screen represent only a segment of the data held for these fields. When you fill up the available eight lines, the attribute definition boxes will clear and allows you to enter another eight lines of definitions. This process can go on indefinitely. Within windows such as this you can use function keys to move about - to review previous keyed lines, to 'page' through a window (review data a 'page'-at-a-time), to drop to the next free line in the data, to delete a line (and therefore move all the other lines up one) and so on.

These window fields are now discussed in more detail.
