Introduction


This option is the key area of the system. It is where the user effectively defines the PARADYME routine. It has the job of linking attributes and/or expressions to screen positions and file lookups. In addition output conversions, justification, validation and program inserts are handled here. Many of the other options act as feeders to this screen. The screen for specifying prompt definition parameters is shown in the figure below.

The screen for multivalued window prompt definition is a slight variant of this screen and is reached from here by specifying a variable type of 'W'. This screen is shown later on in this chapter, in figure 2.


The following sections gives a detailed explanation of the function of each field.


This is the most important, and most complicated part of PARADYME. It is where the user defines the routine to be generated. We have tried to make it as easy as possible to understand but inevitably there will be problems. However, we hope these will only be minor and will soon pass.

As with all such products, we suggest you start with the simple routines and gradually build from there. In no time you'll be writing your own full blown systems.
